At the beginning of each week I will post food for thought, direct
questions, prompts, an assignment and whatever else seems appropriate .

Topics will include:

*planning or working spontaneously

*tools and skills

*fueling up/nurturing yourself/finding inspiration

*self-discipline as in:The Studio Between the Ears

*all of this and more in service of developing personal imagery


As the week progresses, my hope is that you will post your responses and
questions, and perhaps visuals of what you are working on as time goes
by. As you post, I will respond to you, within a day or two. This can be
a personal as you are comfortable with. If you are a very private
person and find that you are not comfortable posting to the group,
please let me know.


At the end of each week we will sum up and lay the groundwork for the
next week.


Requirements:

Technical: enough computer skill and confidence to participate in a
Yahoo Group - all communications will be on-line.

Skill level - a willingness to stretch, a desire to look a little deeper
into *your* creative self.

Time Investment: Since this will be on-line, you can fit it into your
personal schedule. Consider it a six hour class, enriched by being
spread out over five weeks.

Materials and Supplies: Nothing special. I will ask you to begin a
sketchbook/journal, or create one from your responses to each week's
work. You will work with materials at hand, scraps of fabric or paper,
found objects, ephemera, whatever color and mark making tools you have
and are comfortable with. From time to time there will be information in
the files about working with specific materials, but using those is
optional.


The group size is limited to 10.

Doors And Windows: Composition, Context and Meaning

This four week session will focus on developing the structures of good composition and refining design skills. Building on visual awareness gained in Idea to Image, participants will explore ways of shifting space and manipulating the elements of design to add strength and interest to their artwork.

Requirements:

Technical: enough computer skill and confidence to participate in a
Yahoo Group - all communications will be on-line.

Skill level - Open to those who have participated in at leas one session of Idea to Image.
A willingness to stretch, a desire to look a little deeper
into *your* creative self.

Time Investment: Since this will be on-line, you can fit it into your
personal schedule. The actual time investment will be determined by how deeply you work.

Materials and Supplies: your sketchbook/journal, a pad of tracing paper or overhead transparencies, a permanent marker (e.g.®Sharpie or ®Pigma pens or a set of permanent technical markers - available in the drafting section of office supply shops or art supply stores.
