Welcome

This Summer a lot of my time was spent "off the grid", at our treehouse/cabin in the Crazy Mountains (see the Blog for photos of that magic place). The cleaning up process, hours spent stacking wood, moving wood, and clearing up potential trails yielded both a sense of peace and some subconscious changes in how I think about my studio work.

For decades, Michael brought me interesting rocks, pieces of petrified wood, fossils, feathers and wood. All these natural forms inspired me and informed my work. This Summer it occurred to me that perhaps, in addition to drawing from these forms and letting the drawings morph into other work - on paper, in cloth, on canvas- perhaps I might work directly with the wood itself.

It is an interesting adventure: a change in process, in the tools and materials, a giving over to the form that exists within the materials instead of creating from where none had existed. The first cutting away from a surface is very different than facing a surface on which anything might happen.

As my life and my work change, you will be seeing that reflected here, on this website. Thank you for stopping by today, please check back.
